This is the first time I make a sweater for my boyfriend.
It’s a long story – it always is :) More details on my Ravelry project page.

They are pretty, but I didn’t have enough yarn to make them as long as I wanted and they itch … so I made another pair in a nice cheap wool and soya yarn from my local supermarket.

Made another pair of really long socks. This time with a sport-weight sock yarn and a stripy chunky rib on top. The rib is striped with double-held fingering sock yarn. Use various leftovers for a contrasting effect.

A very quick and satisfying little project.
When I put them in the washing machine I had no idea if these huge floppy socks eventually would fit the tiny feet of my daughter. They did :)

It makes sense to knit socks from the toe-up. You can try them on along as you go, and you can knit until you run out of yarn. Doing them on a magic loop will eliminate the ladders/loose stitches you get from dpn’s and you won’t have a hard time doing number two. I wanted to try all of that :)
I grabbed a ball of Crazy Zuberball from my Stash and went along. In order to control the selfstriping colors I decided to mix it with some brown Arwetta. 4 skeins of yarn was too much for my magic loop – they got really tangled very quickly! so I made one at a time, saving the 2-at-the-same-time practise for later.
From now on I will prefer to knit socks this way. Way easier :)
