Eventually these tiny stitches will end up in a piece of fabric and something you can actually wear :)

SOCKS !

January 16, 2012 § 1 Comment

I’ve kind of obsessed with making perfectly fitted socks (!)
I always do them toe-up, two-at-a-time on a Magic loop with gusset and a heel flap.

Yarn: Regia Hand-dye Effect

Yarn: Mayflower Strømpegarn

Yarn: Hjertegarn Ragg-strømpegarn

As my sock experience progresses I start to picture my own socks and I have this thing with knee-highs generously topped with a textured band to fold. My first attempt turned out quite successful and in time I will make a pattern for it.

Now I’m trying to make a pair in a sport weight-yarn with a striped top made from leftovers.

Yarn: Zwerger Garn, Opal Regenwald 6-ply + scrap

Making a man sweater

January 7, 2012 § 3 Comments

For the first time, I’m making a sweater for my boyfriend.

It’s quite a challenge. As I know how much I can ravel one petite piece of garment size x-small for a perfect fit, I don’t want to think of the amount of work to redo for a man’s sweater.

Anyway, The thing was to find the right pattern, simple but not boring. I went for Big Alfred’s by Britta Wilfert. Yet another nice version of her seamless, top-down constructions.

Next thing: To find the perfect yarn … It couldn’t be wooly itchy, no bright colors, still it should be interesting enough to maintain my interest in the project.

It’s a beautiful charcoal grey, it’s very crisp and a true pleasure to work with.

Now, just a perfect fit, we’ll see …
