Luxurious Silky Merino from Malabrigo meets cheap soya yarn from my local discount supermarket. But how they suit each other well !!!
There’s a price difference of $7 per skein …!

This is going to be the softest most beautifully colored shawl ever ♡
A strand of kid mohair and silk, held together with Malabrigo Lace 100% Merino in the shades of ochre, yellow and a little bit of olive/lime …
Can’t decide upon the right pattern as the yarn is so georgous, but I guess it doesn’t really matter as long as it includes knitting …

Though I only missed a few rows of My Swedish Summer Autumn Shawl when we headed back home from our vacation, it took me three weeks to finish it. It only felt right to work on the shawl in front of the bonfire and not back home in the living room …
Eventually I succeeded and I love the colors, the variegation and the smoothness of Malabrigo Sock ♡ The jagged edge is not intentional though, but it’s really hard to pin 106 inches straight :)

I can’t believe I did this! … payed the tariff on this box = 252 kr ($48) on top of the shopping prize of $85, shipping to Europe included. A total of $133 for 7 skeins of Malabrigo !!!
I guess the prize for the yarn itself ($71) is fair enough and it’s a treat to shop at Eat Sleep Knit but I didn’t expect the subsequent tariff as I have ordered and received yarn from the US before without having to pay any extra bills. The tariff was too high and $133 too much for yarn that I didn’t even have specific projects for – just wanted to check out the feel and the colors … so I decided to let it go, letting the post office keep the parcel and eventually return it to the shop.
I couldn’t get it out of my head though and after almost two weeks at the post office I picked it up – closed my eyes and paid …
Now the box is at home, and yes, the yarn is nice but it’s still just … yarn …
I don’t even know what to make of it, what do you think?

I’ve been looking forward to making this for quite a while. Lovely Malabrigo Sock in warm Autumn colors. My summer vacation in Småland was a perfect occasion to start this. A straight forward shawl is mindless enough to bring on vacation. I’m glad i did. It rained for the whole week. Very autumn like, and I would have finished it if it wasn’t because I had to rip back as I changed my mind for a size large instead of medium.
